What We Do
Many young people and their families are referred to East Metro Youth Services (EMYS) because they are experiencing social, emotional or behavioural problems. These problems may exist in isolation or they may be complicated by physical, cognitive, or other difficulties.

The multidisciplinary approach at EMYS recognizes the holistic nature of many problems you and your family might be facing, and the need to treat the problems within the context of the family, cultural group and community.

During the intake process, EMYS access staff determine the extent of the multidisciplinary input, if any, that you require. When contributions from other fields are required, they are chosen on the basis of your strengths and needs. At EMYS, professionals contributing to the multidisciplinary approach may be drawn from many areas, and may include: -

  • child psychiatrists
  • child psychologists
  • child and youth workers
  • nurses
  • teachers
  • social workers with experience in child and family treatment
